Breakfast with Nanay is a children’s picture book for ages 4-10 that explores Filipino breakfasts and the quiet love between a child and their Nanay. 

Experienced through the words of Klyde Salcedo and illustrations by Maysie Lecciones, the book tells a heartfelt story that blends nostalgia, food-culture, and family warmth. The illustration is bright, traditional, and culturally rooted, inviting children to experience both the joy of food and tenderness of family.

Published in November 2025, the book is available to ship from mid November onwards.

About the makers

Klyde Salcedo is a Filipina public servant, who works in natural wine and is now a children’s book writer! She lives and works on Boon Wurrung Country. Growing up in a matriarchal family, she learned that food carries stories, memories, and quiet acts of love.

Maysie Lecciones is a Filipino multidisciplinary creative based in Naarm, working across food and design. Having moved to Australia from the Philippines, she draws on childhood memories and her connection to her homeland to weave storytelling and memory into her work. She brings nostalgia to life through her illustrations for Breakfast with Nanay.
